The World Is Your Oyster...

I've heard this comment a lot from my dad growing up. I've reflected on this countless times and more often than not, have failed to see the magnificence of the statement until recently. One might interpet this as having the ability to achieve anything you want. This may very well work and be true for many and I do agree on some accounts that we really do make our own luck and are capable of achieving anything if we have the desire to do so.
I would like to delve a bit more deeply into the idea of an oyster truly representing the world. Many times it may seem ugly, dark and difficult to reach. It is at this point we must reach out and grab it, applying ourselves and giving back to what is around us that it opens up and reveals its secrets and shows to us the pearl inside. From every continent, to every nation, to every culture therein lies something beautiful to see. We will never see it if we don't open our eyes, walk down the street and let ourselves be open to the world that surrounds each of us. Everywhere is a journey and something to be learned. The world is your oyster but only when you decide to make it so.

"Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
